On December 12, 2024, Engineers Without Borders Nepal (EWB Nepal) celebrated its second year with the successful conclusion of its Annual General Meeting (AGM). This milestone was a proud moment for reflection and planning as we continue our mission to build a prosperous Nepal where innovative young leaders create sustainable solutions that uplift communities and inspire societal progress.

Since our founding in 2022, EWB Nepal has grown into a thriving organization of over 100 members, completing 10+ impactful projects and transforming the lives of more than 1,500 individuals. During the AGM, we revisited the incredible progress made over the last two years and set the stage for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

A highlight of the AGM was honoring our President, Kapil Dev Regmi, for his exceptional achievement of being elected as the President-Elect of Engineers Without Borders International (EWBI). This recognition of his visionary leadership is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for EWB Nepal, elevating our work and mission to the global stage.

The event also featured active participation from our university chapters, who play a pivotal role in bridging academia and industry. Their presence reaffirmed the importance of empowering young engineers to develop innovative solutions that drive societal progress.

As we celebrated our collective achievements, we reflected on some of our key initiatives:

  • i-LAB and Digital Literacy Programs: Impacting 7 schools in 4 districts by engaging 350 students and 20 teachers in innovative learning experiences.
  • Robotics Workshops: Training 60 students (including 11 females) across 3 schools, distributing 6 toolkits, and inspiring the next generation of engineers.
  • Afforestation Drives: Planting 1,000 trees to benefit 2 communities while engaging 50 participants to promote environmental sustainability.
  • Mountain Cleanup Projects: Collecting 1,000 kilograms of waste, preserving Nepal’s pristine landscapes, and training local Sherpas with drones.
  • Cultural Preservation Through 3D Mapping: Collaborating with 20+ individuals to document and protect vital heritage sites like Gorkha Durbar Square.

Another proud moment during the AGM was introducing Sudixya Adhikari, our youngest-ever Board of Directors (BOD) member. Her inclusion reflects EWB Nepal’s commitment to fostering youth leadership and empowering young voices to shape the future of engineering and innovation in Nepal.

Looking ahead, EWB Nepal is gearing up for exciting new initiatives, including:

  • WASH Projects: Expanding access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.
  • Crisis Management Training: Equipping communities to better handle emergencies.
  • Climate Resilience Campaigns: Promoting sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
  • Immersive Study Tours: Offering practical learning opportunities for aspiring engineers.

The AGM was a celebration of unity and progress, with contributions from members, partners, and university chapters. As we look to the future, we remain deeply committed to empowering young leaders and fostering collaboration to create lasting change.

Here’s to another year of growth, innovation, and impact. Together, let’s engineer a brighter future for Nepal and beyond!
