Visit to Raghuchaur with EWB Austria

A recent site visit to from 22nd March to 25th March to Raghuchour in Kavre district, marked a meaningful step forward for Engineers Without Borders Nepal’s growing international collaboration efforts. As a Service Learner, I, Ashutosh Pant, had the opportunity to spend four days in the field alongside Ina from Engineers Without Borders Austria, observing and learning from an already implemented drinking water system.

Set in a terrain prone to landslides, the project highlighted the challenges and ingenuity required in rural infrastructure design. The system sources water from a natural spring nearly five kilometers away, with approximately four kilometers of pipeline supplying close to 25,000 liters of water to 46 households in the community.

In addition to observing the water system, we conducted a preliminary survey of Gautam Nath Basic School, assessing earthquake-related damage and exploring possibilities for reconstruction.

This visit was one of the first collaborations between EWB Nepal and Austria, offering valuable insights into sustainable development and strengthening partnerships for future impact.
