Engineers Without Borders Nepal (EWBN) conducted an intensive “One-day Disaster Preparedness Training” at EWBN office, New Baneshwor on 27th July. The training highlighted the importance of taking action before risks turn into disasters.
The volunteers of the 2025 Professional Chapter, in collaboration with the Nepal Red Cross Society, successfully led this training for 15 frontline thinkers and doers. Guided by the belief that preparedness begins with awareness, the first part of the session used visual and practical demonstrations to explain disaster risks and the factors that drive them. By the end of this segment, the group had gained a clearer understanding of key hazards, vulnerabilities, and exposure. The session also introduced important sites and resources that can be used to identify disaster risks in the future.
In the following segment, led by the Nepal Red Cross Society, the focus shifted to proactive measures that can be taken before a disaster and an introduction to how the early warning system works. At the end of the session, participants received a disaster preparedness handbook prepared by EWBN to reinforce the concepts learned and help share the knowledge gained from the training.
Overall, the session provided practical, hands-on learning, engaging participants through questionnaires, demonstrations, and open discussions. It emphasized that preparedness is not just knowledge, but action, encouraging participants to apply what they learned in their communities. We sincerely thank the Nepal Red Cross society for their insightful session, which helped lay a strong foundation for youth-led climate action, action that is raw, real, and ready.
