IST 2025 Follow Up Trip to Dhading

Engineers Without Borders-Nepal recently conducted a field visit to the Ramkot village of Dhading district from March 26th – March 29th. This expedition was a follow-up to previous work led by Engineers Without Borders-Switzerland and to look for potential new projects for collaborative implementation. The purpose of the trip was to better understand how existing water projects are functioning and to identify opportunities for continued support and improvement.

During the visit, the team partnered with Swabalambi Basic Deaf School and Ratnadebi Basic School to assess their water supply systems and better understand their current needs. These engagements provided valuable insight into how water access impacts students and school operations, as well as where gaps still exist.

A key part of the trip involved traveling alongside the local water commissioner, who guided the team through various treatment plants and reservoirs serving the surrounding communities. This offered a comprehensive view of the broader water infrastructure, including ongoing challenges and future development plans.

Beyond institutional visits, the team also connected with local community members to learn how water is used in daily life. Conversations with households, restaurant owners, and farmers highlighted both the strengths of the current systems and the practical challenges people continue to face.

This visit not only reinforced the importance of community-centered approaches to water management but also laid the groundwork for future collaboration and sustainable improvements in Ramkot.
