As part of our ongoing Disaster Preparedness Initiative, Engineers Without Borders Nepal (EWBN) organized a session on Psychological First Aid (PFA) on 3rd July at the EWBN Office, New Baneshwor. The session served as a timely reminder that true disaster preparedness begins not just with resources and response systems, but with mental resilience. Led by Mr. Sudhanshu Acharya, Counselor at Project Aasha under Aasha Pragyan Kendra, NLP Master Practitioner, and Counseling Psychology graduate student, the interactive training focused on equipping participants with the skills to provide emotional support during crises.
Participants explored how to recognize trauma responses, listen with empathy, and stay grounded in high-stress situations. The session also emphasized self-care and the importance of maintaining one’s own well-being while supporting others, a crucial element often overlooked in emergency response. Designed as a Training of Trainers (ToT), the workshop brought together changemakers, first responders, and community leaders who will help extend these lessons within their own networks. This initiative reaffirmed EWBN’s belief that preparedness goes beyond logistics, it’s about nurturing calm, compassion, and care from the inside out.
