EWB KIT has been working in Managaun, Dolakha, on its water supply project since 2024, with the goal of ensuring year-round access to water and improving living conditions for the community. During their previous visit, they installed a catcher and a sedimentation tank at the spring water source. They successfully conveyed water from the sedimentation tank to the splitter tank and further into the village.
In this recent visit, their focus was on constructing a storage tank, developing distribution points, and installing water taps in each household.

With the intention of raising awareness about the water supply system, water purification methods, and their importance, EWB KIT organized a two-day workshop on 20th and 21st of April, with the help from EWB Nepal. The first day of the workshop was conducted in two sessions, one in the morning at 7 AM and another in the evening at 5 PM to ensure maximum participation. These sessions helped community members understand the functioning of the water supply system and recognize the issues related to current unsanitary water usage. A model of the water system was used for demonstration, and various water purification methods were presented through practical examples. Participants were also encouraged to share their concerns and ask questions regarding the system.
The second day of the workshop was designed specifically for children, with a total of 66 participants from Grades 1 to 9. The objective was to make the learning experience interactive and engaging. The children were divided into four groups and participated in six different games. Through each game, they earned a component needed to build a water filter such as a container, sand, stones, charcoal, and filter paper. After completing all the games, each group assembled their components to create a functional model filter. This hands-on activity was followed by a discussion on the importance of water purification and its methods.
This interactive approach made the workshop memorable and effective, as the children could associate each component of the filter with the games they played, reinforcing their understanding in a fun and engaging way.
