Strengthening International Partnerships

Kapil Dev Regmi, President of Engineers Without Borders Nepal and President of stars Alumni Nepal, recently visited Switzerland and Germany to participate in the stars Symposium and attend a series of meetings focused on education, innovation, health, technology, and international collaboration.
The stars Symposium brought together inspiring speakers and participants from different parts of the world, providing an important platform for exchanging ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Kapil described the experience as highly enriching, especially the opportunity to connect with people working across a wide range of sectors. The programme also included a visit to Mainau Island in Germany.
Expressing his gratitude to Dr. Toni for the opportunity, Kapil also highlighted the participation of Dr. Prasanna Karki, a neurosurgeon at Medicity Hospital, and Ms. Sewa Pathak, CEO of ViaNet, who also represented Nepal at the programme.
A major highlight of the visit was Kapil’s meeting with Mr. Reto Ammann, President, and Mr. Jonas Boul, Director, of the SBW School Group in Switzerland and Germany. Kapil was honored to be hosted by Mr. Ammann at his residence and had the opportunity to visit one of the SBW schools. He also had a productive discussion with Principals Sara and Sanjay on potential educational partnerships and collaboration between Nepal and Switzerland. Kapil expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ammann and Mr. Boul for their support and encouragement in developing these connections.
During the visit, Kapil also met with Mr. Pascal Kaufmann and Dr. Daniela Suter, both internationally recognized for their work in artificial intelligence. A recurring concern among many of those he met during his European visit was the recent disaster in Nepal. Their concern and solidarity reflected the strong international goodwill toward Nepal during a difficult time.
Another significant meeting was held with Mr. Stephen Wilson, CEO of the Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering in Basel, Switzerland. Joined online by Prof. Dr. Emma Slack and Dr. Yogesh Poudel, the discussion explored opportunities to extend the institute’s work and initiatives to the Global South, including Nepal, through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
Kapil also met with Mr. Tiziano Lavizzari, President of the Swiss Nepal Chamber of Commerce, along with Mr. Tej Bhattarai and Ms. Saskia Schmidiger. The meeting focused on strengthening ties between Switzerland and Nepal and exploring opportunities for further cooperation.
The series of meetings reflected Kapil’s continued efforts to build international partnerships and create opportunities for Nepal across education, innovation, health, technology, and sustainable development.
As President of Engineers Without Borders Nepal and President of stars Alumni Nepal, Kapil highlighted the value of developing long-term international relationships built on trust, shared learning, and collaboration.
