When Music Became a Way to Stand with Rasuwa

Biratnagar | 2 September 2026
When a disaster happens far from home, there are only so many ways an ordinary community can respond.
In Biratnagar, one of those ways was music.
Following the floods in Rasuwa, the Biratnagar Musician Group organized Music for Hope Charity Through Music on 2 September 2026 to raise support for families affected by the disaster.
Engineers Without Borders Nepal Purbanchal University Chapter (EWBN-PU) joined the initiative, standing alongside musicians and members of the wider community in support of the effort.
There was no engineering project attached to the programme, and that was precisely what made the participation meaningful. For a student-led engineering chapter, community work cannot always be reduced to technical solutions. Disasters also bring immediate human needs, and responding to them can take many forms.
Here, music became the meeting point.
People gathered, listened and contributed toward a cause that was happening hundreds of kilometres away. It was a small example of how local communities can respond to a disaster elsewhere not by pretending to solve everything, but by doing something within their reach.
For EWBN-PU, Music for Hope was one such effort: standing with people affected by the Rasuwa floods and being part of a community response that began with something as simple as coming together.
