From London to Stockholm: Advancing Sustainable Engineering Through Global Partnerships

This September, Mr. Kapil Dev Regmi, President of Engineers Without Borders Nepal and President-Elect of Engineers Without Borders International, undertook an official visit across several European countries to advance partnerships and explore future collaborations for EWB Nepal.

During his visit to London, an MoU was signed between Engineers Without Borders Nepal and Engineers Without Borders UK, formalizing a new partnership aimed at shared learning, international education, and collaboration on sustainable engineering initiatives. Mr. Regmi also met John Kraus, Chief Executive of EWB UK, and Katie Cresswell-Maynard, Executive Director of EWB International, to discuss opportunities for joint projects and student engagement.

In Stockholm, on 8 September, Mr. Regmi met representatives of Engineers Without Borders Sweden, Petter Wihlborg, Jan Burenius, and Jan Byfors, at Sandvik’s headquarters, with Sandvik as the main partner to EWB-SWE. The meeting focused on potential future collaboration, including discussions on innovative approaches to engineering for social impact.

Mr. Regmi also participated in the Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship, and Development (SEED) Symposium at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he interacted with faculty and researchers to explore prospects for academic and technical collaboration in Nepal, particularly in the area of small hydropower and renewable energy.

Additionally, he attended the stars Symposium in Switzerland, where he shared EWB Nepal’s initiatives on sustainable engineering and community-led innovation with global leaders and experts in development and governance.
