Mr. Kapil Dev Regmi, President of Engineers Without Borders International (EWBI), participated in the EWBI Strategic Workshop held in Birmingham, UK. The workshop provided an important opportunity for EWBI leadership, board members, and the delivery team to come together for strategic reflection, dialogue, and planning around the future direction of the organization.
The workshop opened with remarks from Mr. Regmi, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of strengthening EWBI’s role as a global network that supports collaboration, learning, and collective impact across member organizations. His opening reflections helped set a focused and constructive tone for the sessions, encouraging participants to think critically about EWBI’s evolving responsibilities and long-term vision.
The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Katie Cresswell-Maynard, Executive Director of EWBI, through an interactive and participatory process. Participants reviewed and discussed EWBI’s four strategic pillars and value proposition, considering how these can be further refined to better support member organizations and advance EWBI’s vision for 2030. Group discussions were structured to encourage diverse perspectives, with participants working in different groups throughout the workshop to generate insights and priorities.
The workshop created space for meaningful conversations on EWBI’s strategic direction, governance, network engagement, and future opportunities. It also helped clarify how EWBI can continue to strengthen its global role by connecting members, supporting knowledge exchange, and promoting engineering approaches that contribute to sustainable and community-centred development.
Overall, the Birmingham workshop reflected EWBI’s commitment to thoughtful planning, collaboration, and collective leadership. It marked an important step in aligning the organization’s strategic priorities with its broader mission and long-term vision for the global EWB movement.
